APSFILTER - Menuegefuehrte Druckerinstallation

Parallelport sollte im BIOS auf "ECP" gestellt werden und im System mit
"lptcontrol -e" entsprechend konfiguriert werden.
Einen lokalen "HP DeskJet 890C" / "OfficeJet G85" (oder kompat.)
mit Hilfe des Paketes APSFILTER an LPT1 unter FreeBSD installieren!
Das sollte aber unter anderen open source OS so aehnlich gehen.
Einige Punkte koennen sind in Abhaengigkeit von der Version
etwas unterscheiden.

Hier sind die Treiber unter "1", "2" und "4" (je nach eingesetztem Drucker)
zu bevorzugen (der Qualitaet wegen).
Da wir den "HP DeskJet 890C" installieren wollen,
draengt sich der Verdacht auf, das der Punkt "4" (HP DeskJet) ideal
fuer uns ist. Wenn wir uns mit sehr guter SCHWARZ/WEIS - Ausgabe zufrieden geben
mag es gehen. Ich habe nach ausgiebigem testen fast aller Treiber
keine akzeptable Farbqualitaet erreichen koennen.
Fuer einen Postscript-Drucker ist natuerlich unter Punkt "1" zu suchen
aber fuer den "HP DeskJet 890C" habe ich zwei Treiber unter Punkt "2" gefunden,
die eine gute Farb- und Schwarz/Weis-Qualitaet brachten.
Also "2" eingeben.

Hier ist der Ausschnitt mit den unterstuetzten HP DeskJet - Druckern.
Es werden aber auch weitaus mehr unterstuetzt,
da die Steuerelektronik in den meisten Druckern kompatibel ist.
Zum Beispiel arbeitet der "OfficeJet G85" mit den gleichen Treibern
wie unser "HP DeskJet 890C" !!!
Meine Tests haben den beiden Treibern unter "132" und "141"
gute Werte bescheinigt, wobei die Farbwiedergabe bei "132" besser war.
Also geben Sie "G" (jump to end of file) und "132" ein!

The easiest way, to connect a printer to your computer is by
using the parallel interface, because it's usually *faster*,
more standardized and therefore much easier to configure.
When configuring a serial printer, the installation dialogue
asks you many questions about how to configure the serial
interface of your computer, so that it works well with your
printers current settings.
When using the serial interface, then you have to choose special
cables, depending on the communication protocol between computer
and printer (hardware/software handshaking). Many pitfalls here !
